Jay Weinberg Parts Ways with Suicidal Tendencies
Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has officially announced his departure from Suicidal Tendencies following a high-octane eighteen-month stint with the California crossover thrash icons.
Weinberg, who joined the band in 2024, shared the news via a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a collection of highlights from his time on the road. Reflecting on his tenure, he thanked the band and their global fanbase—the “Suicidal Army”—for their support during what he described as an “absolute blast.”
A New Chapter: Fatherhood and Creative Projects
The drummer revealed that his decision to step back is driven by significant milestones in his personal life. Weinberg and his wife, Chloe, are expecting their first child, and he is prioritising time to complete several long-term artistic ventures before his focus shifts to fatherhood.
Among these projects is Portraits of an Apparition, along with the construction of a dedicated home creative space and several yet-to-be-announced collaborations.
In his farewell message, Weinberg expressed deep gratitude to bandmates Mike Muir, Dean Pleasants, Ben Weinman, and Tye Trujillo, stating:
“You guys picked up a friend when he was down, and gave him the opportunity to truly feel the message of ‘You Can’t Bring Me Down’ at a time when he needed it the most. I can’t thank you enough for that.”
Weinberg concluded by acknowledging the profound influence Suicidal Tendencies has had on his career, noting it was the “honour of a lifetime” to contribute to the historic legacy of one of his favourite bands.
