Metallica Rumoured for Blockbuster 2027 Las Vegas Sphere Residency
The heavy metal world is buzzing with news that Metallica is “90 per cent” of the way toward signing a deal for a massive residency at Las Vegas’ most futuristic venue: The Sphere.
According to a report by The Sun, the thrash metal icons have been in deep discussions with executives at the $2.3 billion “orb” to bring their high-octane show to the Strip in 2027. Insiders suggest that James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo have already met with the venue’s technical teams to plan a spectacle that utilises the Sphere’s 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen, speakers with beamforming and wave field synthesis technologies, and 4D physical effects.
From London Stadium to the Las Vegas Strip
While the Vegas deal is reportedly being finalised, the band is currently focused on their massive M72 World Tour. This summer, UK fans can catch the legends during a string of major stadium dates:
Glasgow: Hampden Park
Cardiff: Principality Stadium
London: Two nights at the London Stadium
A residency at the Sphere would see Metallica following in the footsteps of legendary acts like U2 and the Eagles. However, given Metallica’s reputation for “in-the-round” staging and bone-shaking production, a show in a venue capable of 4D physical effects (like wind and haptic seat vibrations) promises to be unlike anything metal fans have ever experienced.
Who The Fuck Are Metallica?
Formed in 1981, Metallica is one of the most influential and commercially successful “Big Four” thrash metal bands in history. With over 125 million albums sold worldwide and nine Grammy Awards, they remain the gold standard for heavy music and live performance.
