Malevolence Surprise Fans with New Independent Single ‘Silhouette’
Sheffield’s finest heavy hitters, Malevolence, have once again proven why they are one of the UK’s most vital metal acts. In a move that caught the scene off guard, the quintet has surprise-released a captivating new single, “Silhouette”, marking a significant milestone in their career.
The track officially kicks off a brand-new chapter for the band, as they transition to releasing music entirely independently via their own imprint, MLVLTD Music.
A Soul-Stirring Departure from the Mosh Pit
Arriving just in time for Valentine’s Day, “Silhouette” sees Malevolence exploring a more sensitive side. While the band is no stranger to melody, this track is a brooding, soul-stirring ballad that stands as a unique entry in their catalogue.
Featuring delicate guitar work and bluesy licks that build into a soaring, sombre chorus, the single showcases guitarist and vocalist Konan Hall delivering a career-defining vocal performance.
“Surprise! This one is for the lovers,” the band commented. “It feels like a real step outside our comfort zone of the aggressive mosh parts and breakdowns. It’s nice to get vulnerable for once and show the world we have much more to offer as musicians than what might meet the eye.”
Building on Global Success
This independent release follows a monumental year for the band. Their critically acclaimed album, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, climbed to No. 1 on the UK Rock & Metal Chart and No. 33 on the Official UK Album Chart—a massive feat for an independent metal outfit.
Recorded at Dave Grohl’s legendary Studio 606 with Grammy-winning producer Josh Wilbur, the album’s success was bolstered by a heavy touring schedule. This included a legendary secret set at Download Festival 2025 and sold-out headline shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse.
Looking Ahead: Slam Dunk Festival 2026
“Silhouette” is just the opening salvo for what promises to be a busy year. Malevolence are set to appear at Slam Dunk Festival 2026 on 23 and 24 May. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the festival will feature two dedicated heavy stages for the first time, with Malevolence sharing the bill alongside Knocked Loose, Bury Tomorrow, and Guilt Trip.
